ECC will honour founding Principal TED Dwyer with Lecture Series
Excelsior Community College (ECC) will host its fourth annual TED Dwyer Lecture on Thursday March 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. as a part of its College Month activities under the theme, Transforming Today’s Dreams into Tomorrow’s Realities.
This year’s speaker is Ian Boyne, veteran journalist and Deputy Chief Executive Director at the Jamaica Information Service (JIS).
This annual event is a reflection on TED Dwyer’s life and accomplishments- that is, his invaluable contribution to education and culture.
Thomas Edward (TED) Dwyer was the founding principal of the College, which at the time was the first institution of its kind in Jamaica. Throughout his 26 years at ECC, he helped to shape the concept and development of the community college system in Jamaica. He wrote several items for the LTM National Pantomine and contributed to the development of the National Cultural Policy for the Arts and was a member of the JCDC.
The event will be staged at the main campus of the College, 137 Mountain View Avenue, Kingston 3.
