ECC Entrepreneurship Week: Innovative & Sustainable Entrepreneurship
Creating & maintaining Small & Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)
The School of Business and Entrepreneurial Studies (SOBES) in collaboration with the Schools of Computer Studies and Tourism, Hospitality and Entertainment Management (THEM) at Excelsior Community College (ECC) will be hosting the second annual Entrepreneurship Week from March 27-31 using the theme, Innovative and Sustainable Entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship Week is a calendar event of College Month.
Entrepreneurship Week (EW) aims to enrich and nurture the entrepreneurial ideas of students as they pitch said ideas to industry experts, practitioners and investors. The aim is also to educate students and staff about the different entrepreneurship opportunities available to them.
This interactive week will enable students and staff the opportunity to do an elevator pitch of their business ideas to members of corporate Jamaica as well as provide information about how to develop innovative and sustainable business ideas.
For this one week flagship event, students and lecturers will also actively participate in business dialogue fora, seminars, business start-up expos, open houses and exhibitions. They will also feature their own small businesses.
The week will feature members of corporate Jamaica including Mr. Javet Nixon- founder, chairman and CEO of Seaforth Limited; Ms. A. Harris, Customer Service Manager at the National Land Agency (NLA).
ECC has collaborated with corporate entities such as Credit Scotia, Small Business Association, Cari Med, Cal’s Manufacturing Limited and Jamaica Business Company.
EW is free to the public and activities begin each day at 10 a.m. on the main campus.
