ECC announces first-ever International Day
Excelsior Community College (ECC) is pleased to announce its first annual International Day to be held on Wednesday March 29, 2017.
International Day is being celebrated under the theme “Transforming Lives through International Educational Opportunities, the Bridge to Global Citizenry Readiness."
International Day is designed to highlight the opportunities that are created by ECC for ECC students. It is another effort to foster and nurture global citizens by encouraging students to take the opportunities to travel, study and work aboard so that they can become competitive citizens in a global economy and be job-ready for the world of work on day one.
International Day ultimately aims to sensitize students, staff and prospective students about international partnerships and alliances of ECC as well as the myriad of scholastic opportunities that abound for them.
According to Duane Daley, lecturer and director of International Partnerships & Cultural Exchange at ECC, "We [ECC] have partnered with seven local recruiting agencies and one international agency over the years.”
The day will feature Ms. Colleen Pigeon, Chargé d’affaires, Canadian High Commission; Ms. Larraine Myers, Assistant Director of International Recruitment, Monroe College, New York; Ms. Tracy-Ann Hyman - CEO of Skolastic Oasis Caribbean, University of the West Indies.
Two of ECC’s student beneficiaries, Sasha Gaye Robinson and Tara Lawrence, will also give talks at the event about their experiences as international students.
International Day is free to the public and begins at 10 a.m. on the main campus.
