ECC stages its second Culture Day March 8

March 7, 2018 KINGSTON - Excelsior Community College will celebrate Culture Day on Thursday, March 8. This date coincides with International Women’s Day and thus recognises the invaluable contribution of women to the cultural identity of Jamaica.

The theme is ‘Celebrating our Culture, Celebrating our Women: Our Backbone to our Culture.” The pioneering woman to be honoured at the event is the Rt. Hon. Dr. Louise Bennett Coverley, affectionately called Miss Lou.

The occasion will be introspective, reflecting on the extent to which there is appreciation for women, for culture and core values at Excelsior Community College and by extension to Jamaica at large.

The event will be held at the main campus, 137 Mountain View Avenue Kingston 3, from 10 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Activities for the day will include workshops, interactive sessions and panel discussions. There will also be a food tent serving traditional foods.

The event is open to the public.
