Academic Update

  • Summer School Dates – June 8 to August 15th
  • All classes will be facilitated via the College’s official online platforms - Canvas, Zoom or Educosoft. The summer semester 2020 will be done remotely (not face-to-face). Courses to be offered will include those courses that do not require a pre-requisite. Where provisions cannot be made for practical course, they will be differed to the following semester.
  • Mid Semester Period for Summer Semester – July 6-July 18, 2020
  • All students MUST ONLY use their assigned ECC email addresses for any correspondence within the institution
  • All students MUST complete the Canvas training module prior to beginning their summer session.
  • CAPE/CSEC students and identified special groups with practical or mandated review sessions will be rostered and granted access to the campus according to the roster.
  • CAPE/CSEC review sessions for select groups will be facilitated face to face during the June 8th-July 3, 2020 period.
  • ALL on campus classes are rostered in appropriate classroom spaces according to Ministry of Health safety protocols with recommended spacing and sanitization practices.
  • There is a sanitization period of at least thirty (30) minutes between each on campus session.
  • For students who are eligible for examination re-sits in Semester II, the institution may allow the student(s) to:
  1. be assessed using the approved mode for this semester. i.e Continuous Assessment or Resit examination
  2. wait until the next examination sitting (once the student is still within the one year, from the date of failing an examination, they will be able to do the re-sit).
  • As per communication from the CCCJ, students will be awarded a Pass (P)/Fail (F) instead of letter grades as per CCCJ’s grading scheme. With this method, students who receive a Pass would be exempted from the course and would still satisfy requirements needed to complete their studies, and grades obtained this semester would not affect their GPA score.
