The Associate Degree in Architectural and Construction services is concerned with developing in candidates, entry level architectural and construction skills. The courses taught under this option provide students with good introductions to the different areas of the field of Architectural and Construction services, as well as develop entry level competences in a variety of drafting and construction techniques.
On completion of this programme of study, students should be able to: create drawings using AutoCAD, build miniature models of developed houses and structures, read and interpret blueprints, link buildings and find solutions to architectural and construction problems.
Graduates should be able to function at every entry level position in careers such as: Architectural Designers, Estimators, Draftsmen, Building Inspectors and Land Surveyors.
Graduates should be able to matriculate into a Bachelor Degree in Architectural and Construction Services that is offered by institutions across the Caribbean and the Americas. Although in some institutions the Associate degree graduate may be required to do additional credits where weak academic passes are obtained, or where a programme does not develop competence in a required entry level skill.
