ECC and Yallahs High School Scholarship

$1.2 Million Scholarship for Excelsior Community College and Yallahs High Students.

In a significant move to support education and professional development, Panoptica Logistics Limited has announced a $1.2 million scholarship program, The Lotoya Elisia Ellis Scholarship Fund, for students attending Excelsior Community College (ECC) matriculating from the Yallahs High School.
This initiative aims to foster the growth of future logisticians by providing financial support in studies related to Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
Founded in July 2022, Panoptica Logistics Limited is a third-party logistics (3PL) company with over 20 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, providing warehousing and distribution services across Jamaica. They offer human capital services essential for workforce building that is integral to their daily operations. Additionally, they have Panoptica Consulting Limited, focusing on consulting and business services in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, and Business Strategy.

According to Mr. Philmore McCarthy, Principal, Excelsior Community College, “This partnership is a big step for our young adults’ education. Working with Panoptica Limited gives our students more opportunities and shows our commitment.” Chief Executive Officer of Panoptica Logistics, Ms. Lotoya Ellis, also expressed her enthusiasm for the program saying, “We are merely underscoring one of our organizations core value, Constant Learning, by being a good corporate citizen. As a proud graduate of Yallahs High School, it brings me immense joy to revitalize this scholarship program for my YHS Family.” The Lotoya Elisia Ellis, scholarship fund was initial mobilized in 2011 as a self-funding initiative. The scholarship now focuses on the Associate Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Excelsior Community College, covering 100% of the program fees for two years, both part-time and full-time. To qualify, students must have a minimum B average, among others.

Panoptica will also support two students from Yallahs High School for the academic year 2024 -2025. By the 2025 – 2026 academic year, they plan to up that support to four students until they graduate from their associate degree program.

“We are also looking into expanding this support to include Information and Communication Technology in the future,” she further stated. Principal of Yallahs High School, Mr. Mark Malabver, highlighted the positive impact of this scholarship on the students’ future. “This partnership is a prolific way to nurture our students and build the workforce of tomorrow. Many of our students face financial challenges in accessing tertiary education, and this initiative will help them realize their dreams. When there is a trail, you should always light a candle for those following behind,” he remarked.

The $1.2 million scholarship program by Panoptica Logistics Limited for Excelsior Community College and Yallahs High School, represents a significant investment in the future of Logistics and Supply Chain Management in Jamaica. By supporting students financially and encouraging their academic and extracurricular development, this initiative will help to build a skilled and diverse workforce ready to tackle the challenges of the industry. Panoptica Logistics Limited will also provide internships and job placements during and post the recipients studies, respectively.
