The Associate of Science in Psychology is is an introductory course in Psychology. It focuses on the broad field of psychology to enable the graduates to understand introductory psychology principles and methodologies. The course should act as a a foundation for persons who want to use the acquired qualification to enter a bachelor’s degree programme at an advanced stage* or to work as an assistant in the field of social work, in a counselling environment or to enter careers that require understanding basic psychology.

Upon successful completion of the Programme graduates are awarded an Associate of Science Degree in Psychology by the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica(CCCJ).

Entry Requirements:
To matriculate into the Associate Degree in Psychology, applicants must fullfill one of the following criteria:
Five (5) subjects at CSEC / GCE O’ Level equivalent as follows:
- Passes in at least five (5) CSEC subjects, with grades I, II or III, including English Language and Mathematics*. NB grade III (after June 1998) is accepted.
- Passes in at least five (5) subjects in GCE O’Level including English Language and Mathematics*, with grades A, B or C.
- Mature Student Entry . Applicants falling in this category must be over the age of twenty five (25) with a minimum of two (2) years experience in the specialzed area of the industry. Applicants will be accepted based on their employment portfolio as well as certificates of achievement , positions held along with job descriptions and community involvement.
- Equivalent qualification as determined by CCCJ.
* Students without Mathematics will be required to sit an equivalence course
