Women’s Division Excelsior Community College secured 5th place overall, earning 29 points among 12 participating colleges. Congratulations to our female athletes for their strong showing and unwavering commitment. Men’s Division In the men’s section, Excelsior Community College placed 7th, with a total of 24 points. ECC Presents 10 Scholarships to Students at Haile Selassie High Kingston, Jamaica – [Wednesday, January 29, 2025] – As part of its ongoing 50th Anniversary celebrations, Excelsior Community College (ECC) on Monday presented scholarship opportunities to students of Haile Selassie High School. The initiative underscores the institution’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and supporting the educational aspirations of young Jamaicans. According to ECC Principal, Mr. Philmore McCarthy, the College awarded 10 Ted Dwyer Scholarships, granting students the opportunity to further their studies at ECC. In addition, 50 copies of the book If Caterpillars Can Fly So Can I by author Mr. Alvin Day, were donated to inspire both students and teachers at the school. “We believe in empowering young minds and providing them with the tools to succeed,” said McCarthy. “Through these scholarships and the motivational book donation, we aim to encourage students at Haile Selassie High School to dream big and recognize that their potential is limitless.” The scholarship presentation is one of many activities planned as part of ECC’s yearlong 50th Anniversary celebrations, which commenced in September last year and will continue through August 2025. The College has been hosting a variety of events to commemorate this significant milestone in its history. “We invite all our stakeholders, alumni, and well-wishers to stay connected with us and be a part of our celebrations,” McCarthy added.
